The official launch of the Khmer TYPO3 community took place on Thursday, 16th November 2010 at Web Essentials. It was a special day for the Open Source Community in Cambodia, especially for all web developers. There were many special guests coming to celebrate such as ICT industry leaders, Open Source supporters as well as media representatives.
The main highlight of the event was a special opening speech from the vice-president of the ICT Business Association (ICTBA), Dr. Eric Mousset who introduced us to the culture and values of open source communities. Then Mr. Dominik Stankowski, the founder of Web Essentials, outlined the advantages of Open Source and explained new businesses can benefit from using Open Source.
The events also featured a comprehensive presentation on TYPO3 as the world's most used Web Content Management System (CMS) by Mr. Violeng Mam and Mr. Visay Keo, Project Managers of Web Essentials. Both speakers shared the adventure of translating TYPO3 in Khmer which was successfully completed at the beginning of December 2010. They also demonstrated how easily the content of a website can be changed while using TYPO3.
